This course is aimed at consultants who have to give mitigation advice or those wanting to know more about mitigation as part of their training for a bat licence. The course will be taught by Dr Sandie Sowler and an outline of the content is shown below:

Morning
- Mitigation & Enhancement - definitions
- Mitigation types:Mitigation for roost loss (winter& summer); Mitigation for foraging loss;Mitigation for commuting route loss and route severance.
- Species Mitigation including: Horseshoes, Pipistrelles, Daubenton’s, Natterer’s, Long eareds and Noctules.
Afternoon
- Mitigation design by project:Wind Farm, Roads, Building conversions, Underground projects and Bridges.

- Useful references
We would encourage participants to bring case studies of successful and unsucceeful mitigation schemes that can be shared with the rest of the group.
