This year a team of volunteers in Devon will be studying the rare Bechstein's bat. Sue is one of three volunteer co-ordinators who will be visiting woodlands across the county to survey for this elusive and rare species. Using harp traps and acoustic lures it is hoped that Bechstein's bats will be discovered in areas where they have been never been recorded. The project is co-ordinated by Bat Conservation Trust and will be undertaken in Devon between May and September. It is hoped that we will be able to 're-draw the map' of Bechstein's distribution whilst also increasing the records for other woodland bats in the county. If you would like to help out then please get in touch with Sue on suesearle@acornecology.co.uk.
