This introductory level course will greatly enhance your understanding of ecological surveys and assessment and give you a chance to gain some field experience relevant to both conservation and consultancy.
The following survey techniques will be covered during this 2-day course:
• Plant quadrat surveys
• Identifying common grassland and woodland plants
• Small mammal trapping and identification
• Butterfly transect
• Breeding bird survey
• Basic bat ecology and bat walk, using detectors
Please note that most of the course is field based. Site visits will involve sustained walking for up to 5km, some of which will be over rough ground. Please ensure that you are capable of this before booking.
