This week we are celebrating Sarah Candlin’s 10th year with the company. Sarah was Acorn Ecology’s first employee, joining Sue and marking the start of Acorn Ecology’s growth. When Sarah started she had just finished her degree in Environmental Biology and was embarking on her career as an ecologist. A lot has changed, as she reflects here:
“I have loved working for Acorn Ecology and the time has flown by! When I started at Acorn Ecology as a trainee ecologist on a temporary contract, I never imagined I would still be here ten years later! But when you enjoy what you do, there is opportunity for promotion, a nice working environment and a lovely team – why would you leave?! I have been privileged to work with some great ecologists and clients over the years, and to have met some really enthusiastic students. The work has been varied and is always changing; each year brings something new and a different challenge.
I am really grateful to Sue for taking me on as an inexperienced trainee ecologist and for teaching me so much! It has been a pleasure seeing the company evolve and expand.”
