According to National Planning Policy Framework all developments should provide ENHANCEMENT for wildlife and habitats, in addition to this if protected species are present on your site then suitable mitigation needs to be put in place to ensure that the species can continue to use the site.
Mitigation might involve putting up nesting boxes, creating reptile habitat, planting new hedgerows, creating nesting bird habitat, building ponds for newts or building a bespoke bat house. Download our FREE Mitigation Calendar.
This is a major part of our work and when we carry out our surveys on site we will be thinking about how to mitigate for loss of habitats and features on site and how to avoid killing, injuring or affecting the breeding success of species on site. Construction projects have a legal obligation to ensure that protected species are catered for and no harm comes to them.
We are here to help and advise on the best course of action for each project and set of circumstances. Our job is ensure that your project is lawful in terms of wildlife.
